What Makes Calendly Useful?![]() ![]() ![]() One of the features that makes the Calendly software very useful is its template feature. Creating templates that you use a lot or to send out to your team so that you've got uniform scheduling is valuable. With Calendly, it's easy to create events. When you create events, you need to know how to control the event types. Controlling the event types is important so that your scheduling runs smoothly. Customizing event types by color coding allows you to see your different event types at a glance and will keep your calendar organized. ![]() ![]() ![]() Calendly is also very helpful for setting up meetings with people outside of your company or business. When you want to meet with people inside your company, you can usually see their calendar. So, you can choose an available meeting time. This isn't usually true for those outside of your company, though. Have you ever worked with an outside vendor and had to meet with them and several people from your company? Usually, the vendor would have to provide you with dates and times they're available by email. Then you'd have to respond to the email with the dates and times that work for your team. With Calendly, you can drop all the back-and-forth emails because the vendor can choose and book the times that your Calendly team has pre-defined as being available. What Is a Calendly Template?A Calendly Template is an event type that can be shared with other users. When you use a template, you can choose a setting so that other users have the same settings as you for that event. This ability is really helpful because it means that new Calendly users can immediately start creating events too. Giving more than one user the ability to set up events is a helpful way to have your meeting scheduling run smoothly and in a way that you need. You can set up other users with admin privileges. Admins have all the owners' privileges, except they can't change the user's role. This can let users who found a more effective setting change the settings on the event type template. Calendly templates are useful if you've got a meeting that you need to schedule often. You can create a template for that regularly occurring meeting. No matter who hosts the meeting, there will be a set template for the event. Using a set template allows people to become familiar with the event. To view your template, click < Templates to see the new event template you created on a list of available templates. 45 Best Thin Serif Fonts (Narrow and Skinny Fonts to Download) Posted: An elegant thin serif font can be an excellent design choice. There are plenty of types of skinny serif fonts to admire, download, and try in your next project. Let's take a look at some of the thin font types out there. We'll take a look at narrow serif fonts, thin fonts, and more. ![]() ![]() ![]() What Is a Thin Serif Font? Why Use One?So, what's a thin serif font? What's a serif narrow font? How about condensed fonts? Is there a difference? And how do you choose the best thin fonts for your project? It's important to note that condensed is generally a different descriptor than thin, when talking about typography. For the purposes of this article, we'll classify them in this way:
As an example, take a look at this tall thin serif font. We could consider this font both thin and condensed at the same time. Its proportions are condensed, and the lines themselves are thin. Note that the serifs are highlighted in the bottom example. ![]() ![]() ![]() Fonts can be thin but not condensed, like this example. In fact, thin fonts can make for a really elegant design choice. Note how the font lends itself to an aesthetic that feels serious. Think about what you would assume about this book, based on the cover alone. The font choice really has an impact on how this visually communicates. ![]() ![]() ![]() Thin serif fonts can come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. Remember, the focus here is on the width of the letters themselves. Bold fonts tend to feel strong or even loud. They make a bolder impact! Light fonts, on the other hand, with a thin stroke, can be softer and more whisper-like. Of course, in the end, this all depends on how the designer opts to use the font, but take these perspectives and consider them. ![]() ![]() ![]() Download Unlimited Thin Fonts on Envato Elements. If you love fonts, you should check out Envato Elements. How to Optimize an Animated GIF: 10 Ways Posted: In this tutorial, we'll have a close look at all the available options to convert a video to a GIF animation, and how to optimize its file size. What Is a GIF File? Before we start, let's take a closer look at the question, "What is a GIF file?" GIF is the standard format for compressing images with large areas of solid colors and crisp details like those in line art, logos, or type. Being an 8-bit-depth image format, it would have disappeared from the web after the introduction of the JPEG and PNG file formats. But GIF is still a favored web file format thanks to its frame animation feature. By the way, if you work with animated GIFs often, you may want to check out an automated solution: the Gift Export Photoshop Action available on GraphicRiver. ![]() ![]() ![]() How to Optimize an Animated GIF: 10 WaysIf you want to learn these techniques via video, check out our lesson on the Envato Tuts+ YouTube channel: 1. How to Trim the AnimationFirst of all, you'll need to open the video file with Photoshop. Most of the time, you won't need the whole sequence for the GIF animation, so you can trim the video by going to Window > Timeline. Turn on the Loop option and try to find a good place to trim your video. ![]() ![]() ![]() 2. How to Reduce the GIF Image File SizeYou can either reduce the GIF image file size by going to Image > Image Size or by hitting Alt-Control-I. Your video layer will have to be turned into a Smart Object if you reduce the GIF size, but you don't have to worry about this—it won't affect our workflow at all. ![]() ![]() ![]() 3. How to Save the GIF File for the WebAnother option to reduce GIF size in Photoshop is the "Save for Web" function. You can find it by going to File > Export > Save for Web or by pressing Alt-Shift-Control-S. My favorite thing about this workflow is that we don't have to do any conversion on the Timeline panel to be able to save a frame animation, as the Save for Web dialog box will do the work for us once you select the GIF file format as your output. Notice that the animation options will appear in the bottom right corner of the dialog box. If you decide to further reduce the GIF size in Photoshop, you can still do it here. ![]() ![]() ![]() 4. How to Reduce the Number of FramesYou can also reduce the GIF size if you reopen the exported GIF back into Photoshop and delete every second or third frame from the Timeline panel. Then you should select all the remaining frames and increase their duration to compensate for the loss of frames. If you don't do this compensation, your animation will be played faster than the original. Once you're ready, you can save the new optimized GIF, which should be much smaller than the original. ![]() ![]() ![]() 5. How to Change the Number of Colors That Are AnimatedThe most relevant option for optimizing GIF size is the number of colors used in the Color Table. The maximum amount of colors is 256, which comes from the 8-bit-depth limitation. Generally speaking, it's good to stick with 64 colors or less to compress the GIF file in Photoshop. But depending on the original video, you might need to increase the number of colors to get a better result. ![]() ![]() ![]() 6. How to Choose the Color Reduction AlgorithmHere are the options for choosing color reduction:
![]() ![]() ![]() 7. How to Use Dithering to Reduce the GIF File Size in PhotoshopSince GIF files contain a limited number of colors, we may want to imitate the missing colors with available ones using dithering. From the Dither menu, we choose one of the algorithms for such imitation. The Diffusion method lets us adjust the amount of dither. With the Pattern and Noise algorithms, there's nothing to adjust. The more dithering in an image, the larger the file size. Dithering adds different-colored pixels in close proximity to each other to simulate secondary colors or smooth gradations in color. Some images must contain dithering to look good, but it's best to use the least amount of dithering possible to keep the smallest file size. ![]() ![]() ![]() 8. How to Use the Web Snap, Lossy, Transparency, and Interlaced Functions
![]() ![]() ![]() 9. How to Compare the Original and Optimized Version of the GIF FileOnce you've made a lot of custom changes, you can check the difference in file size and quality by using the 2-Up view. ![]() ![]() ![]() 10. How to Use Preview, Save Preset, and Optimize to File SizeIf you're happy with your settings, take a look at your final optimized GIF with the Preview option in a browser, and don't forget to save your settings as presets. You can also specify a file size limit with this additional option from the Optimize menu, and once this is applied, Photoshop will try to fit the size with the best possible image quality. ![]() ![]() ![]() Which Way of Optimizing a GIF File Do You Prefer to Use?Now you know ten simple ways to optimize your GIF files. 20 Best HTML Templates for Your Resume (Curriculum Vitae) Posted: If you're getting ready to start a job search, you're going to need a resume. However, not just any resume will be enough in today's competitive market. If you want to stand out from the crowd, an online resume is the best way to go. In addition to that, you've got to make sure that your resume has a professional design as well as allows you to highlight your professional and educational achievements. Creating an online resume from scratch sounds daunting but you don't have to start from scratch. There are plenty of HTML templates that you can use as a starting point for your design. Online Resume vs Print Resume: Which One is Better? You might be wondering what's the benefit of using an online resume built with an HTML resume template over using a traditional print resume. The answer is simple. An online resume is easier to update and ensure potential employers always have accurate information. Imagine if any of your information changes while you're searching for and applying for jobs. Perhaps you've changed addresses or you've obtained another certification. With a print resume, you'd have to update your resume and then manually resend it to each and every job you applied for or risk potential employers not having the most up-to-date information. However, if you're worried that potential employees won't have your information handy, fear not. Most HTML templates allow anyone who views your resume to download a PDF version with a single click.
